Following the Lynx runner-up finish at the 2009 SCAC Softball Championships, Junior Rebekah Moore and Sophomore Sara Bowen have been named to the All-Tournament team for their roles in leading the Lynx to the Championship game.
Moore, the All-Tournament designated player, led the Lynx offense all weekend, hitting .462 with a double and 2 RBI. In the loser's bracket final against Hendrix on Saturday night, her 2-out double drove in 2 runs and gave the Lynx a 2-0 lead, which was extended to 3-0 when she scored on a double from Bowen. Moore went 3 for 3 in the game with a walk, helping the Lynx avenge their opening-round loss to the Warriors and advance to Sunday's Championship game.
Bowen was named All-Tournament at the utility position, as she did a little of everything during the Lynx run through the SCAC tournament. On Saturday, with the Lynx facing elimination, Bowen tossed 8 shutout innings against Trinity, giving up just 4 hits, to lead the Lynx to its first victory over the Tigers since 2001. In addition, she delivered the big hit in the top of the 8th, a bases-loaded double that broke the 0-0 tie and gave Rhodes a 2-0 lead. In Saturday's loser's bracket final against Hendrix, she picked up 2 more RBI, scoring Rebekah Moore on a double in the 3rd inning then scoring Caroline Cooper on a fielder's choice in the 5th, as the Lynx defeated Hendrix 4-1 to advance to the Championship game.
